The story of TODD Custom WoodWorking began in 1998, when founder Todd Harrington—then a third-generation carpenter—realized the industry was sacrificing artistry for speed. Frustrated by the rise of cookie-cutter residential carpentry, he opened a small cabinetry shop in Portland, Oregon, with a radical idea: What if furniture was built to last, not just to sell? His first commission—a live-edge walnut desk for a local artist—set the tone. Word spread, and soon, architects and designers sought him out for wood design-build projects that required both technical precision and soul.

By 2005, TODD had outgrown its original space, expanding into a 10,000-square-foot wood fabrication studio equipped with both hand tools and CNC machinery. This hybrid approach allowed us to tackle everything from intricate millwork services for luxury hotels to minimalist bespoke wood furniture for urban lofts. Our reputation for blending old-world craftsmanship with modern efficiency caught the attention of commercial clients, leading to collaborations with boutique hotels, high-end retailers, and even a Grammy-winning musician’s private studio.
